For those of you who do not know anything about it, please check the Lupin the III pilot in this post and surely you will understand why such a character (born in '67 from the pen of Katō Kazuhiko) is loved by so many.

Also in 1979 the movie had a second film notable for being the directorial debut of Miyazaki, who previously worked as an animator for Toei Animation and TMS Entertainment (among many other animation studios) having directed several episodes of the two anime series Lupin III and Lupin III Part II.
